Make your Own Games
Hey there!came across these ideas that I think could be useful in enhancing you and your students’ learning experience (if any).
Have you ever thought about creating your own games for your class? It might sound daunting, but it’s actually pretty doable. For instance, you could make a memory game like the one in this video by CodingArtist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqqxkrKhfS4&ab_channel=CodingArtist
Or, you could create a matching game like the one shown in this video by JamesSchneider: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twq9WHgUhQc&ab_channel=JamesSchneider
There’s also the option of making a crossword puzzle game, like the one in this video by LucyCory-Wright: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXX7HhFjmgo&ab_channel=LucyCory-Wright
And let’s not forget about multiple choice quizzes! This video by CodeExplained shows you how to create one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49pYIMygIcU&ab_channel=CodeExplained
But why stop there? Why not combine different types of games into one super game? For example, you could mix a multiple choice quiz with a racing game like this one made with Unity 3D: https://www.coroflot.com/zbalai/Unity-3D-learning-game-prototype-Language-Racer
If you’re feeling ambitious, you could even create your own crossword puzzle generator, like the one in this video by OfficeNewb.com: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEpixnKhNRA&ab_channel=OfficeNewb.com
Developing video games might seem like a daunting task, but it can be a really rewarding experience, especially when you see you (and your students, if any) learning from the games you’ve designed. It might take some time and patience, but there’s a lot to learn and explore. So why not give it a try and see where it takes you?
